BigHit Music today announced BTS’s fifth full-length studio album titled Arirang.
Set for release on March 20, 2026, at 1 PM KST, the album marks the group’s first full-length studio effort in six years. Following the completion of their mandatory military service in late 2025, Arirang serves as both a homecoming and a bold new chapter for the septet.
The Meaning of Arirang
The choice of title is deeply symbolic. Arirang is often referred to as Korea’s unofficial national anthem, a folk song over 600 years old that is inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
By naming their comeback after this pillar of Korean identity, BTS is signaling a return to their roots. The song traditionally encapsulates han—a uniquely Korean emotion of deep sorrow and longing, balanced with resilience and hope. For a group that has spent nearly four years apart due to military obligations, the title suggests themes of reunion, displacement, and the ultimate triumph of coming home.

In a move that caters to both casual listeners and hardcore collectors, BigHit revealed an ambitious lineup of physical configurations. Pre-orders begin Friday, January 16, at 11 AM KST.

- Member-Specific Variants: Seven unique colors ranging from ‘RM Silver’ to ‘Jung Kook Orchid.’
- Modern Korea & Group Red: Specialized aesthetic pressings.
- Deluxe Gatefold: Featuring a turntable slipmat and a 20-page vinyl-exclusive photobook.
The 2026–2027 World Tour
The album release is just the beginning. The announcement follows the reveal of the 2026–2027 BTS World Tour, which kicks off on April 9, 2026, at the Goyang Stadium in South Korea. The massive trek will span 79 shows across 34 cities, covering Asia, North America, Europe, and beyond.
Target has also been confirmed as the exclusive US retail partner for special pre-order editions, ensuring the album’s accessibility on a global scale.
As RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook prepare to take the stage together once more, Arirang stands as a testament to their enduring legacy and their commitment to sharing Korean culture with the world.
