For world-changing philanthropy.

Amidst preparations for their long-awaited 2026 comeback, global icons BTS have achieved a major milestone, becoming the first Korean singers to receive the prestigious Presidential Commendation at the 5th Korea Good Donation Awards.

The award ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, recognizes individuals and organizations that have inspired society through charitable acts. The commendation was specifically bestowed upon BTS for the profound global impact of their “LOVE MYSELF” campaign.

A global force for good

The “LOVE MYSELF” initiative, launched in 2017 in partnership with UNICEF Korea, promotes self-love and works to end violence against children and youth worldwide. The campaign has expanded its reach to 155 countries and regions, demonstrating the group’s commitment to global mental health and violence prevention.

Key philanthropic achievements:

Financial impact: BTS, their agency Big Hit Music, and their global fanbase (ARMY) have collectively raised approximately ₩9.20 billion KRW (about $6.25 million USD). This impressive figure accounts for roughly 15% of UNICEF’s global child protection fund, making it UNICEF’s largest private partner in this effort.

Mental health reach: The initiative has provided mental health awareness and support programs to over 100 million people globally, underscoring their influence beyond music.

Dedication to ARMY

In their statement regarding the commendation, BTS expressed deep humility and dedicated the honor to their fans.

“We feel a great sense of fulfillment in knowing that the ‘LOVE MYSELF’ campaign has had a positive impact on society,” BTS stated. “This award is not so much given to us, but rather it symbolizes encouragement and support for everyone who resonated with the message we spread… We especially want to dedicate this honor to ARMY, who have created the campaign with us. We will continue striving to be BTS that contributes to warm and healthy change.”

The recognition arrives as the septet, having all completed their military service, is ramping up preparations for new music and a large-scale world tour set to launch in the spring of 2026. This Presidential Commendation serves as a powerful reminder of the group’s positive legacy that transcends their pop stardom.
