BTS’s long-awaited return as a full group is already rewriting K-pop benchmarks, with their upcoming studio album Arirang holding firm at more than 4 million pre-orders as release week approaches.

According to distributor YG Plus, Arirang surpassed 4.06 million pre-orders within just seven days of sales opening on January 16, 2026. No newer official pre-order figures have been released since then, meaning the album’s initial total remains the most recent confirmed physical-sales milestone.
The figure eclipses BTS’s own previous high set by Map of the Soul: 7, reinforcing Arirang’s position as one of the most pre-ordered albums in K-pop history. The demand is particularly notable as the album marks BTS’s first full-group studio release in nearly four years, following the completion of mandatory military service by all seven members.
Interest has remained intense across formats, including standard CDs, multiple vinyl editions and collector-focused versions, many of which sold out quickly at major global retailers. Digital indicators also point to sustained momentum, with more than 2 million pre-saves recorded on Spotify ahead of release.
Since pre-orders opened, BTS have steadily expanded the rollout of Arirang. The group has revealed the full 14-track lineup and confirmed the album’s title track, building anticipation ahead of its official release later this month. Promotional activities will culminate in a global live comeback performance on March 21, streamed worldwide via Netflix, followed by a feature-length documentary chronicling the group’s reunion and the making of the album.
Live demand mirrors the album’s sales power. Presale windows for the Arirang world tour sold out rapidly in multiple markets, prompting the addition of extra shows in key cities, particularly in the United States. The tour is scheduled to launch in April officially.
As of now, no announcement has confirmed that BTS’s fifth studio album has surpassed its original 4.06 million pre-order total. That figure therefore remains the album’s leading pre-release benchmark, serving as a clear indicator of BTS’s enduring commercial strength and the scale of global Army support as the group enters its most closely watched era in years.
