BTS are rolling out their Arirang era as a fully immersive, multi-platform global comeback, combining stadium tours, cinema livestreams, a landmark Netflix performance, a documentary release and a redesigned official light stick that will define the visuals of their return.
As part of the BTS World Tour ‘Arirang’ Live Viewing initiative, two full concert performances will be broadcast live in movie theaters across at least 75 countries. The first screening will stream the April 11 concert from Goyang, South Korea, followed by the April 18 show from Tokyo, Japan. Tickets for the theatrical broadcasts went on sale February 25, with more than 3,500 cinemas worldwide expected to participate.
The cinema rollout is being handled by Trafalgar Releasing in partnership with Hybe and BigHit Music. Organisers say the goal is to recreate the atmosphere of a live stadium concert for fans unable to secure tour tickets, while offering a shared, large-scale viewing experience across regions.
The theatrical livestreams sit within a broader comeback strategy surrounding BTS’s first full-group activities since completing mandatory military service. That campaign begins with the release of the group’s fifth studio album, Arirang, on March 20, followed a day later by their first full-group live performance in nearly four years.

Titled BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang, the March 21 event will take place at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, directly in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace, and will be streamed worldwide via Netflix. The performance will feature the first live renditions of songs from Arirang alongside fan favourites spanning the group’s career, with the livestream scheduled to begin at 8 pm KST.

Days later, on March 27, Netflix will also premiere BTS: The Return, a feature-length documentary directed by Bao Nguyen and produced by This Machine in collaboration with Hybe. The film chronicles the group’s reunion after their hiatus and documents the creative process behind Arirang.

As anticipation builds, BTS have also introduced a key visual and experiential element of the Arirang era with the teaser reveal of ARMY Bomb Version 4, the first major redesign of the group’s official light stick in nearly six years. Released by Hybe on February 5, the teaser showcases a darker, more mature aesthetic, with the BTS logo centred inside a transparent globe, signalling a new chapter in the group’s live performance identity.
Version 4 introduces advanced wireless control technology designed to deliver richer colour gradations and more immersive, synchronised lighting effects during concerts. A companion app expands functionality with venue maps, pairing booth locations and a concert history log, while optional accessories allow the light stick to double as a mood lamp and collectible display piece.
Fan reaction to the redesign has been swift and intense. While many praised the updated look and enhanced features, others expressed frustration over the limitations of older models. Wireless concert control for Version 3 and the Map of the Soul Special Edition will remain supported until the Las Vegas show on May 28, 2026, after which only Version 4 units will be fully synchronised with stage systems starting from the Busan concert on June 12. Early-access pre-orders on platforms such as Weverse Shop reportedly drove heavy traffic and server slowdowns, underscoring the scale of global demand.
BTS’s group hiatus began in December 2022 as members entered South Korea’s mandatory military service. Jin and J-Hope were discharged in 2024, followed by RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook in mid-2025, with Suga completing his service in June 2025. During the break, the members pursued solo projects before regrouping internationally and returning to Korea to prepare their first full-group album in years.
Following the Netflix comeback livestream, BTS are set to officially launch the Arirang World Tour in April. The tour will span 82 shows across 34 regions worldwide, with sold-out dates and added shows already signalling record-breaking demand.
Together, the album release, Netflix livestream, documentary, cinema broadcasts, world tour and redesigned ARMY Bomb position the Arirang era as one of the most expansive and tightly coordinated comeback campaigns in recent pop music history, blending live performance, cinematic scale and interactive fan engagement on a global level.
