BTS’s highly anticipated comeback just hit an unexpected setback — and it involves leader Kim Namjoon.
RM suffered a serious ankle injury during rehearsal on March 19, just one day before the group’s massive Arirang comeback concert in Seoul.
According to BigHit Music, he was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed multiple injuries — including a sprain of the accessory navicular, a partial ligament tear, and a talus contusion.
Medical staff advised RM to wear a cast and limit movement for at least two weeks, raising immediate concerns about his participation in the comeback show.
After discussions with the artist, the agency confirmed that his on-stage performance will be “partially limited,” including choreography.
In other words, he will still appear, but not at full capacity.
RM didn’t stay silent.
During a livestream, he personally addressed fans, expressing regret over the injury and how it happened while pushing himself in practice.
He admitted he “tried very hard” during rehearsals but ultimately won’t be able to perform fully — while reassuring fans he’ll still be on stage to sing, interact, and “hype everyone up.”
He also emphasized the injury is not as serious as it may seem, asking fans not to worry and promising to recover in time for upcoming performances.
Despite the injury, RM is determined not to miss BTS’s historic return.
He is still expected to take part in “BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang” at Gwanghwamun Square, though with modified movements to prevent further damage.
The concert — their first major full-group stage after military service — will also be streamed globally, making it one of the most-watched BTS events in years.
The news quickly sparked concern among fans, but the response has largely been supportive, with many praising RM for prioritizing recovery while still showing up for the comeback.
Because even injured, RM isn’t sitting this one out — he’s just doing it his way.
