BTS have teamed up with Oreo for what the company is calling its biggest collaboration ever — a limited-edition purple cookie inspired by one of Korea’s most beloved street snacks.
Created to celebrate BTS’ 13th anniversary, the special Oreo x BTS cookies feature Oreo’s first-ever purple chocolate wafers, inspired by the group’s signature colour and the phrase “I purple you” made famous by V.
The cookies are filled with a hotteok-inspired creme, paying tribute to the popular Korean sweet pancake traditionally made with brown sugar and cinnamon. Oreo says the flavour was chosen as a nostalgic nod to snacks the BTS members enjoyed growing up.
Each cookie also comes with one of 13 collectible embossed designs, including BTS member names, ARMY-themed symbols, finger hearts and hidden fan messages. Some messages can only be completed by collecting multiple designs, giving fans another reason to hunt for every version.
The collaboration launched online on June 1 before expanding to retailers from June 8 in more than 80 countries, including Malaysia and Singapore.
Fans can also scan QR codes on the packaging to submit digital love letters to BTS. Selected messages will become part of what Oreo hopes will be the world’s largest love letter to the group.
Meanwhile, ARMYs in Singapore will get an extra treat through a special Oreo x BTS pop-up at FairPrice Xtra in VivoCity, Singapore, from June 22 to July 5.
Visitors will be able to sample the new cookies, take part in BTS-themed activities and submit messages to the group. Fans who make qualifying purchases can also redeem exclusive Oreo x BTS merchandise while stocks last, including stickers, collectible plates and limited-edition aprons.
With BTS’ massive global fanbase, collectible cookie designs and exclusive merchandise up for grabs, many fans are already expecting the purple cookies to sell out fast.
For ARMYs, this may be one of the sweetest BTS collaborations yet.
