BTS makes an emotional and highly anticipated return to the US stage — but this time, it wasn’t a stadium. It was a sunset-lit rooftop packed with just 1,000 of their most devoted listeners.

On March 23 (US time), BTS headlined the ultra-exclusive Spotify X BTS: Swimside event at Pier 17 Rooftop in New York City — marking their first full-group US performance in nearly four years.
The event, hosted by Spotify, was designed as a reward for top global streamers, with only 1,000 fans invited based on their listening activity. The result: one of the most intimate BTS performances in recent memory, a stark contrast to their last US shows during Permission to Dance on Stage in Las Vegas, which drew tens of thousands.
Set against sweeping views of the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge, the Swimside showcase doubled as a celebration of their new album, Arirang. The group performed fresh tracks, including “Swim,” “Normal,” and “FYA” — giving fans one of the first live glimpses of the new era.

From the moment Jimin stepped forward with a simple “Thank you,” the night quickly turned emotional. Fans roared back, prompting heartfelt reactions across the group.
RM reflected on the significance of the moment, calling the venue “historical” and emphasizing the meaning of performing again in the US as a complete group. He also joked about ARMY’s growth, saying fans have become “more gorgeous,” drawing laughter and cheers from the crowd.

Meanwhile, Jungkook shouted, “What a beautiful ARMY!” as he thanked fans for enduring the chilly waterfront weather, while V added that hearing US Army cheers again after so long felt deeply moving.
The event followed their massive free comeback concert at Gwanghwamun in Seoul just days earlier, highlighting BTS’s ability to shift effortlessly from city-scale spectacles to deeply personal fan moments.
More than just a performance, Swimside symbolized a reset — a reminder that even at global superstar level, BTS still knows how to make 1,000 fans feel like the only audience in the world.
